ANNIE COMES ALIVE AS KB DAV-7, CHANDIGARH CELEBRATED LITERATURE CONCLAVE
The Day, when the School’s Literary Club and Theatre Club joined hands to launch its first maiden School Production ‘Annie- the Musical’, which was staged at Tagore Theatre on 20th December 2023. The Conclave was a celebration of literature and its impact on Society, the staging of the play being a remarkable part of it. The glorious celebration started with the invocation of Lord Ganesha.
Having and holding hope and optimism through life's journey, no matter what the circumstances, is what ANNIE is all about, and what the character of Annie symbolizes. Behold Warbucks' life before Annie came along: he was a lonely billionaire, and after she arrives eventually, he's filled with joy.
The play ‘Annie – the Musical’ is based on the 1924 comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray. Though the School has successfully made many literary endeavors in the past, it picked up the gauntlet this time to stage this musical play at the Tagore, with over one-and-a-half-month preparation at its back. The dedicated involvement of the teachers and students alike finally bore fruits when the one-and-a-half-hour-long play won thunderous aplomb and a standing ovation from a packed hall for more than two minutes. The School received appreciation from all who watched the play come alive on stage.
The Chief Guest of the occasion Shri H. R. Gandhar, Vice-President, DAV CMC, New Delhi was greatly impressed by the play. He congratulated the School for its maiden attempt, which, he said is stupendously successful.
Principal, Mrs. Pooja Prakash while addressing the Audience said, “Literature captures what it means to be truly human and Theatre, in essence, captures the fragility of human existence-the Pathos and Glee. Annie- The Musical has provided our learners, just the Platform, to Emote, Express and Connect.”
At the end, the audience was thanked for their presence and participation in motivating the young and vibrant group and the Team behind it!
