In all, 603 learners from Class IX to XII watched the live session in their respective classrooms on Interactive Boards along with the teachers, whereas more than 50 teachers directly watched the live session in the Multi-purpose Hall.

The Session started when the young learners raised their queries about how to reduce examination stress, how to gain confidence, how to be focused and avoid distractions, how National Education Policy will develop competency skills in students, should they study for their sake or for the sake of their parents, what are stress busters, – to name a few.
Hon’ble Prime Minister felt obliged as children asked, “Which mode of learning should be preferred, Online or Offline?” Answering the question, he explained to the students that the Online Mode of learning is to gather the information whereas Offline Mode of learning is to understand the information gathered. He motivated children to discipline themselves and make a balance between Online & Offline modes of Learning.
His sincere advice to the parents & the teachers was not to impose their desires on the students. He conveyed that every individual has latent energy which lies unidentified and suggested them to recognize it & acknowledge it.
He concluded the seminar at a positive note for the students advising them to ‘Be your own anchor, invite challenges and delve on your strengths’.
In nutshell, it was a fruitful Interactive session enjoyed by the students and the teachers.

KBDAV 7 STRETCHES MUSCLES, ELIMINATES STRESS ON 8TH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
June 21 every year brings a special day for India as Yoga is recognized and celebrated internationally as the International Yoga Day. Today was no different for the faculty of KBDAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector. 7-B, Chandigarh, who along with the young NSS volunteers, school parents and students of Classes Nursery - XII, showed great spryness with which they prepared themselves to perform Yoga early morning and celebrate the 8th International Yoga Day. The staff members and volunteers thronged the School campus to follow the instructions of Yoga instructor, Mr. Anurag Arora, who like every year, guided the enthusiasts through the protocol.
The chanting of Gayatri Mantra filled the campus with a holy sound, which was followed by different asanas. The importance of each asana was elucidated by Mr. Anurag, the Yoga Trainer. Along with imparting knowledge about the importance of each asana, he reminded the audience that “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, and to the self”. He reiterated that asanas can help one in losing weight, getting rid of period cramps, diseases like hypertension, and thyroid, and improving the health of the heart and digestion. Mr. Anurag specially reminded us of the time when Corona had spread all over. He said those who performed Yoga aasanas recovered sooner, and are living a healthy life. Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. Blood circulation improves, body gains flexibility, and spirit rejuvenates and feels fresh.
Around 50 teachers and 50 NSS volunteers performed Yoga in the School, whereas 100 students joined the Yoga performance through a Google link. The rest of the students watched the streaming of Yoga on the YouTube Link. In all, around 2000 students of the School, along with their parents and siblings actively participated. The audience both online and at School led by the Principal, Mrs. Pooja Prakash, matched the moves with the asanas performed by Anurag Sir. From Sukhasana or Easy Pose to Vakrasana or Twisted Pose, the practice moved on to difficult asanas like Dhanurasana or Bow Pose and Halasana or Plough Pose. Other asanas included Tadasana (also called Samasthiti) or mountain pose which improves the alignment of our body, Dandasana or staff pose that tones the abdominal organs, the spinal, leg and chest muscles, Sarvangasana that helps in the proper functioning of the thyroid and parathyroid glands, and, finally Savasana or corpse pose that helps reduce stress & insomnia. The excitement of the volunteers on the campus & the students online was notable as they geared up to celebrate the International Day of Yoga.
The School will be conducting a yoga session for its staff and students, twice a week, in a bid to reduce stress and improve the general health of the participants.

KBDAV-7 ATTEND SWACHHTA KI PAATHSHALA & GRAB INFORMATION IN HEALTH & SANITATION
KBDAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector. 7-B, Chandigarh in collaboration with Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organised a Comprehensive Awareness Session on the theme "SWACHHTA KI PAATHSHALA- an Educational Programme on Solid Waste Management" today with a special guest from Municipal Corporation, Mrs. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, with her team, visiting the School Campus. A warm welcome was accorded to the team from MC Chandigarh in a traditional style with students dressed up as Radha and Krishna. This was followed by felicitation of the Chief Guest, Mrs. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Coporation, Chandigarh and, Ms. Isha Kamboj, Joint Commissioner, MC, Chandigarh. The session then began with the learners from Class VI to Class XII in large numbers being in attendance to listen to the special team from MC, Chandigarh, headed by Mrs. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
"Things of concern, but often overlooked by all and sundry, affect the cleanliness of our surroundings and ultimately our health", said Mrs. Anindita Mitra when she took over and addressed the congregation there. She alluded to the fact that the Municipal Corporation works silently to resolve many issues – the M.C ensures cleanliness in the City. She declared that plastic and its use is a life-style disease. Her lecture-cum-talk was so captivating that applause echoed time and again when she uttered words of wisdom to the learners. While the use of motorised vehicles has improved garbage collection in the city by and large, its disposal remains a major challenge, she said. As much as 75% of the garbage collected is going to the dumping ground without being processed for which Mrs. Anindita Mitra said, all the residents of the city need to take ownership. She said it's high time the learners were involved in the collection of household garbage, in a proper segregated manner. In the recent Swachhta rankings, Chandigarh has slipped from 16 rank to 66 rank, she revealed. The Corporation is according Top Priority to the maintenance of Dumping Ground, she said. She encouraged the learners to be the 'monitor' of their house, and segregate the garbage at the household level, before giving it out to the garbage collector. The garbage thus collected is then converted into compost and vermi-compost, thereby ensuring recycling, and reducing the garbage going down to the dumping ground unprocessed. She further said that the learners can themselves create compost at their homes, by following simple steps. She assigned this task to the learners to which the learners spoke in unison that they would make it a routine at their houses to segregate garbage every day before sending it for disposal. A pledge to keep the City clean, and bring it to the Top in Cleanliness was taken by all the attendees.
One of the team members, Mr. Shankey Jain, who had first addressed the gathering asked the learners certain witty questions relating to garbage disposal at the learners' places. This was done to invoke the interest of the learners towards a very important issue that the city faces today- the safe and proper disposal of tonnes of everyday garbage. He then showed three videos from the screen specially installed in the rink that motivated the learners to understand that it was very important to separate different types of garbage into four different coloured bins. One video also showed why single-use plastic has been banned and how it is harming our ecology.
The Principal of the School, Mrs. Pooja Prakash lauded Mrs. Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh as a leader, who professes to do things the right way, but also shows the way to do it. Her involvement at the grass root level and partnership with the School on an important aspect like solid waste management, sanitation and hygiene shows the strides the City is taking to reduce its environmental footprints.

Report on Swachhta Pakhwada
“It is our social responsibility as citizens of India to help fulfil Gandhiji’s vision of Clean India,” said Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Honourable Prime Minister of India, from the ramparts of Red Fort. Keeping up with the declaration made by Honourable Prime Minister, KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7-B, Chandigarh never fails to give special attention to the cleanliness of its campus with the intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhta in all domains. Swachhta Pakhwada fortnight (01 September to 15 September, 2022) was observed on the School campus with full devotion and dedication. Here are the snippets from the happening days of the fortnight.
01 September 2022: SWACHHTA PLEDGE DAY
It is our first and foremost duty to serve Mother India by keeping the country neat and clean. The learners of the School took a pledge this day to remain committed towards cleanliness and devote time (100 hours per year) for this cause. The learners pledged to initiate the quest for cleanliness with themselves, their families, their community and their workplace by not littering and not allowing anyone to litter.
02 September 2022: SWACHHTA AWARENESS DAY
The young minds inspired by Gandhiji’s timeless quote “A clean body cannot reside in an unclean city” drew posters and came up with some simple and innovative ideas which, if implemented, can contribute hugely towards keeping their homes, housing societies, schools and the surrounding areas clean. The motive was to highlight the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among children and teachers, and to encourage and inspire them to continue with the good practice for hygiene and sanitation in school as well as at home. In the morning assembly on this day, students spoke about cleanliness and personal hygiene, and also conducted a Quiz on Swachhta.
03 to 04 September 2022 (Saturday & Sunday): Community Outreach Day
The School hosted an Essay Writing Contest on the topic "A Teacher Who Changed My Life” in which students from Classes VIII to XII participated. How much this School has impacted the community was touted through this competition. Using digital communication tools and its website, the School highlighted its priorities focusing on the issues that impact children. The special focus was on the safe and clean learning environment for the students.
05 September 2022 (Monday): Green School Drive Days
The Green Team is the heart of the Green Schools process, both organizing and directing activities at the school. The Green Team at KBDAV – 7 consists of the stakeholders of the school environment - students, teachers, custodians, facilities managers, parents and school board members. Greening activities at the School are integrated into existing curricula in science, art, Maths, languages. Using the school as a hands-on laboratory offers opportunities for real-world problem-solving. Students at the School undertake study of themes such as energy, water, forests, toxic pollution, and waste. The whole school gets involved in practical initiatives - for example, saving water, recycling materials and saving energy. Outdoor education, and time spent in Nature locally – be it the schoolyard, a park, or a field trip - is a critical component of a hands-on, place-based, experiential education at KBDAV - 7.
06 to 07 September 2022 (Tuesday & Wednesday): Swachhata Participation Day
Cleanliness and order are not matters of instinct, they are matters of education and like most great things, you must cultivate a taste for them. – Benjamin Disraeli
A Clean Drive was organized by the Eco Club under the observance of swachhata Pakhwada on 6th and 7th September for classes VI-XII. Clean Drive is just a small step towards contributing to this campaign. The main purpose of this programme was to create awareness among the students regarding Cleanliness and its benefits. All the students were told to bring a small cloth for the cleaning purpose. With zest and zeal, the enthusiastic students steered the clean-up drive to success through their efforts, the support of the school. Every student cleaned their desks and benches themselves during the drive. Some students also cleaned the windows and doors of the classroom. In few of the classes, to motivate everyone to keep their surroundings clean, students themselves drew drawings on Swachh Bharat.
08 to 09 September 2022 (Thursday & Friday): Hand Wash Day
Students at the School observed the day to spread awareness about “washing hands, building sinks and tippy taps, and demonstrating the simplicity and value of clean hands. The day in a way tried to spread awareness about the importance of hygiene. The day focuses on the importance of hand washing and comes up with “creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times”. All the children washed their hands with soap. Keeping your hands clean can prevent a range of respiratory and diarrhoeal illnesses that could severely affect your health. The day becomes much more crucial in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
10 to 11 September 2022 (Saturday & Sunday): Personal Hygiene Day
Personal hygiene being the action /habit /practice of keeping oneself clean plays a major role to promote healthy living of individuals as well as the society. Therefore, it is important to develop the sense of hygiene during the early stages in the life of an individual so that it influences his/her habits as well as lifestyle. Our School not only imparts knowledge, but also plays a pivotal role in the development of habits as well as the overall personality of the students.

The main aim of this competition is to visualize and conceptualize science. Understanding science concepts is important as it can be easily linked to our daily activities and requirements, understanding the world around us, thus highlighting the importance of science in daily life.
The event started in the year 2020-21, and students were asked to present science concepts as a painting. This year, i.e., 2021-22, any concept in science may be depicted in a Poster/Collage format. Posters/Collage not only passively communicate ideas and feelings in a visual mode, but also help students to learn and adapt to different ways of thinking, working and expressing as the students actively work with the concepts.
